Week 1 Project: My Full Sail Story

Before I started Full Sail University I was studying Music with a minor in audio production in Colombia.

I had always thought I wanted to work in a studio producing music.

During the two years, I would wake up dreading what was to come, it was like my life was set on repeat.

I thought that feeling was normal, what it would be as I thought I was studying what I liked.

My falling out of love with music production began with teachers telling me I wasn’t a real musician because I wasn’t studying to be part of a conservatory, but followed with other telling me I would end up no where.

My life was empty, it felt like a jar that had begun full of tasty and enjoyable cookies but now there wasn’t anything left to enjoy, not even small crumbs, or sugar dust.

But then, during a conference I had the chance to meet an artist manager and learn about his role in the industry, which made me stop on my tracks and rethink my path.

I had struck gold and this time it wasn’t going to just wear away, it would drive me to do things I never imagined doing before.

Because of that I started researching about the roles of a manager and began gaining more interest in the business side of the industry, which would slowly turn out to be my true passion.

My interest was peak and there was nothing that could distract me from what I was envisioning.

Because of that I decided to search where I could go study music business in order to fulfil my calling.

Because of that I found Full Sail which I knew was the place for me, which was new to me as I never expected to study abroad and I had to weigh my options before moving forth into the transfer process.

I finally saw it, I saw where I had to go in order to be truly happy again, I new that it wasn’t going to be easy to leave everything behind but I new that the hardest part to let go of was my parents.

Until finally after having to talk to my parents about changing not only schools but careers, I got into Full Sail and moved to Florida to start over.

And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for music business and have done so by putting all my effort into proving my value through my work, so hopefully I can reach my dream of becoming a latin artist manager and showing the world all that latinos have to offer.

This is just the end of the beginning, I know that this is just my first step in this climb that we call life.
